HOW TO: Layers Box

When designing, the one main box in Paint.Net that you'll want to keep open and an eye on is your layers Box.
Normally found to the right of your screen, it can be moved to any other location that suits you and can help you keep your head straight when recording what you have accomplished.

To add a layer, click the first button of your layers box. This is normally great when first starting out or when you are adding a name to your design. All other additions as a new layer will hold your elements or tube layers.
To delete a layer, click the "X" in the layers box:
To duplicate a layer, click the duplicate button in the layers box:
To merge two layers together (such as flowers on opposite sides of your design), use the merge down button in your layers box:
To move a layer up or down in your layers box, use the buttons shown below:
If you wish to drop the opacity of a layer, use this button. It can also be used to rename your layers in the box to help you better remember things like your drop shadow numbers, the name of the kit you used and the name of the tube designer (or even to include your license number) for remembering in the future.
This box also holds promise when fully opened:
You can check "visible" to add a coloured or white layer (instead of clear), rename your layer (as shown above), blending options for your layer and the layer's opacity. The possibilities are endless!
